Glasgow Justice of the Peace Court

Glasgow Sheriff Court is statistically the busiest court in all of Scotland and was officially opened by the Queen in 1986.

There are 21 courts comprising of sheriff and jury courts, summary criminal courts, and Justice of the Peace courts. Road traffic cases can be prosecuted in any three of these courts depending on the severity of the offence. The appropriate court is determined by the Procurator Fiscal"s office in Glasgow.

The court has a large reception area on the ground floor where accused persons and witnesses should present themselves to find out which court they are to appear in. There is also a large cafe situated in the basement level.

Free parking is provided in the court car park although spaces are limited. There is ample parking within the proximity to the court. There are many local bus routes that stop in close proximity to the court, and Glasgow Central and Queen Street Station are within easy walking distance.
